East Iowa Heirloom Quilters

Activities

The EHIQ offers a variety of activities for its members each year. They provide an opportunity to meet other members, learn new skills, and have fun.

Quilt Retreats

There are two Quilt Retreats each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. They provide an opportunity to spend an entire weekend focused on quilting. Participants may work on projects provided for the weekend or bring their own projects. Extra relaxation can be found with a massage. Surprises often abound in the form of the secret sister exchange and door prizes. There are lots of opportunites to get to know the other participants, learn new skills, get advice on projects when you get stuck, and enjoy good food.

Bus Trips

Each year there is at least one bus trip. The trip to the Chicago Quilt Show in Rosemount IL is very popular each year. Every fourth year there is the opportunity to make a trip to the Minnesota Quilt Show in Rochester MN. Other trips have included Shop Hops, Quilt Museums, and other Quilt Shows.

Fat Quarter Lottery

Each month there is an opportunity to bring a Quilt Shop Quality Cotton Fat Quarter that fits that month's theme and submit in the Fat Quarter Lottery. For every Fat Quarter submitted the member receives one chance at winning a stack of approximately six of the Fat Quarters.
